An endurance event like no other

King of the Mountain - 2025

25 kilometers of bush track and fire trails, down the mountain and back up again.  What a great way to challenge yourself on a Saturday afternoon

The 2025 King of the Mountain is bought to you by
​our partner RES Contracting and Excavation

Winners for 2024 - King Ryan Degan in a time of 2:01:06  and  Queen - Laura Gillard  in a time of 2:05:58
  • Registration and payment online by 6pm Friday prior to event date
  • Check in closes at 11:30am on the day on the mountain.
  • 12 noon start time
  • Competitors must be 18 years or older on the day.
  • Cut off time for entrants is 2 hours to the half way point (Wakefield) and 4 hours to the finish line (Mt. Sugarloaf).
  • Competitors must wear identification bibs supplied and these are to be visible at each check point

Conditions of Entry


King of the Mountain competitors will run along the fire trail from the top of Mt Sugarloaf, down to Wakefield
and return via the same trail.
  • Aid stations stocked with coke, water, bananas.   You may fill your camel pack at a water station.
  • Professional First Aid and medical support on course and the registration desk
  • Hot soup at the finish line
  • Run finisher medals for first 3 places in King and Queen of the mountain will be presented at the conclusion​ ​of the event.​
  • ​Mystery prizes for entrants.

Entry is FREE for members of NXC (check your email for the discount code that was sent to you).
​Non-Members can enter for just $70.

Travel Time:
Sydney to Mt. Sugarloaf via Pacific Motor Way North is 1hr 45m or 154.8k
Out of town competitors to our event are encouraged to stay overnight at Springs Newcastle  
Wallsend Diggers accommodation is at an affordable rate, and located 15 minutes drive, or 13k from the run start/finish
